The Pianist is the extraordinary memoir of WĆadysĆaw Szpilman, a young Jewish pianist who survived the horrors of World War II in Warsaw. On September 23, 1939, Szpilman played Chopin's Nocturne in C-sharp minor live on Polish Radio, only to be interrupted by the outbreak of war as German shells exploded around him.
His account details the devastating impact of the Nazi occupation on the Jews of Warsaw, including the tragic loss of his entire family who were deported to Treblinka. Szpilman's survival is a testament to his resilience and the unexpected kindness of strangers, including a German officer, Wilm Hosenfeld, who provided him with food and shelter.
The memoir captures the haunting reality of life in the Warsaw Ghetto, where Szpilman hid among the ruins, enduring hunger and despair. His story is interwoven with excerpts from Hosenfeld's diary, offering a poignant counterpoint that highlights the madness and humanity found amidst the war's chaos.
Originally published in 1946, this powerful narrative was suppressed for decades and now stands as a profound testament to human endurance and the redemptive power of music.
The Westminster Confession of Faith is hailed as the greatest of all the creeds of the Christian Church. Since its first publication in 1646, it has remained unsurpassed in its accuracy and concise statement of Christian doctrine.
Among all the shifting sands of theological opinion, here lies solid truth, for it is grounded in the unchanging truth of Scripture. This is evidenced by the copious references from the Bible printed on each page. Because of its faithfulness to Scripture, the Confession holds permanent worth and abiding relevance.
The Church of Christ cannot be creedless and endure. Especially in an age of doubt and confusion, it is her duty to define the Christian faith and proclaim it to the world. Nowhere has the Reformed Church done this so effectively as in The Westminster Confession of Faith. While always recognizing the supreme place of the Word of God in all matters of faith and practice, one can always turn to the Confession as a subordinate standard. Here, readers will find spiritual treasure; here too, they will find comfort and strength.
Also contained in this volume are the magnificent Larger and Shorter Catechisms, The Sum of Saving Knowledge, The National Covenant, The Solemn League and Covenant, The Directory for the Public Worship of God, The Form of Presbyterial Church Government, and The Directory for Family Worship.
Since its first publication in 1945, Lord Russell's A History of Western Philosophy has been universally acclaimed as the outstanding one-volume work on the subjectâunparalleled in its comprehensiveness, its clarity, its erudition, its grace and wit.

Every woman was once a little girl. And every little girl holds in her heart her most precious dreams. She longs to be swept up into a romance, to play an irreplaceable role in a great adventure, to be the Beauty of the story.
Yet, how many women do you know who ever find that life? Most women think they have to settle for a life of efficiency and duty, striving to be the women they "ought" to be but often feeling they have failed. Sadly, too many messages for Christian women add to the pressure. "Do these ten things, and you will be a godly woman." The effect has not been good on the feminine soul.
The message of "Captivating" is this: Your heart matters more than anything else in all creation. The desires you had as a little girl and the longings you still feel are telling you of the life God created you to live. He offers to rescue your heart and release you to live as a fully alive and feminine woman. A woman who is truly captivating.

My goal, my lifeâs ambition if you like, is to give direction to comedy, purpose to satire. And this is probably why I write the way I do, in order to use self-deprecating, piss-taking humour to bring to the fore situations that just donât stack up. To demonstrate that serious issues can be approached with humour.
Hardly any subject is taboo to the Englishman when heâs laughing, and this often seems insensitive to other cultures, but the bedrock of the British sense of humour is a strong sense of sarcasm and self-deprecation. The British can be very passionate â and if you doubt that try going to a football match - but that passion is often hidden deep in our humour so that other nationals fail to not only recognise the deadpan delivery and are never too sure if theyâve been involved in a serious conversation or just a little bit of friendly banter.
Having said that, my style of writing is now appealing more and more to the American market. This book is not a novel, and if youâre looking for a book that is all sweetness and light, please give this one a miss. Itâs not for you. I wonât be offended and I honestly wish you a great life. If everyone likes me, then Iâm not being controversial enough.
If youâre looking for Humorous books about Life, Comedy Writing or even Humorous Books for Adults then take a chance on this book. If a chapter doesnât suit, just move on.

When Colton Burpo made it through an emergency appendectomy, his family was overjoyed at his miraculous survival. What they weren't expecting, though, was the story that emerged in the months that followed--a story as beautiful as it was extraordinary, detailing their little boy's trip to heaven and back.
Colton, not yet four years old, told his parents he left his body during the surgery--and authenticated that claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on. He talked of visiting heaven and relayed stories told to him by people he met there whom he had never met in life, sharing events that happened even before he was born. He also astonished his parents with descriptions and obscure details about heaven that matched the Bible exactly, though he had not yet learned to read.
With disarming innocence and the plainspoken boldness of a child, Colton tells of meeting long-departed family members. He describes Jesus, the angels, how "really, really big" God is, and how much God loves us. Retold by his father, but using Colton's uniquely simple words, Heaven is for Real offers a glimpse of the world that awaits us, where as Colton says, "Nobody is old and nobody wears glasses."
Heaven is for Real will forever change the way you think of eternity, offering you the chance to see, and believe, like a child.

Life is a collection of moments. In every moment, there are so many miracles around us. Mostly, we are unconscious about the miracles around us. In this book, Dr. Ray helps us understand the miracles of the moments. He shows us the ways and means to live in the moment and to live in the breath.
This book developed from a journal of my thoughts and feelings recorded in response to the shock of my wifeâs diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer in December 2015. Initially, I kept it as a personal diary of things that I believed were important at the time, including the poems and prose I wrote which sprang organically from the events as they unfolded. Whilst these few short months were extremely challenging, at times shocking and ultimately tragic, they were also a time of great love.
Hopefully, I have captured some of those few moments of pure happiness, humour and joy which I believe will not only help other people touched by cancer but will show sufferers and their families that there is no right or wrong way to behave, just as long as you continue to show how much you care and as much as possible, be there for each other.

Apart from breaking two of my mates' noses (one in the ring and one chasing a 'runner'), I used to be known for my stories. And they were all true. I'd come back from distant shores and speak of my adventures. So much so in fact that people used to say, "You should write a book."
My diatribes in my blogs and newspaper columns are simply my way of spinning the balls, because sometimes I like to see what number they land on. Thatâs all. But although Iâm known mostly as a raconteurâand most of my books can be described as coming from the humourist veinâin âNobody Asked Meâ I touch on some subjects that are surely going to upset a few people.
Iâve never quite understood the politically correct brigade. Hardly any subject is taboo to the Englishman when heâs laughing. No longer simply a fad, blogging is now an important new literary innovation. This book is not a story, and if youâre looking for a book that is all sweetness and light, please give this one a miss. Itâs not for you. I wonât be offended and I honestly wish you a great life.
If everyone likes me, then Iâm not being controversial enoughâand trust me when I say that in this book I get controversial. Oh, donât worry; the humour that my fans seem to enjoy so much is still there, but right now the planetâs spinning in new and scary directions, and this needs to be addressed. So inside the covers of this book I take a look at some of the challenges weâre currently facing. And some of my opinions are going to rattle a few people.
So is a comedy writer honestly the best one to challenge some of the perceptions weâre facing nowadays? Well, Iâve always believed that if you can make people laugh then they tend to listen to what you say when youâre serious. And my goal, my lifeâs ambition if you like, is to give direction to comedy, purpose to satire.
So why the rabbit popping out of a tin of soup on the cover? Well âRabbit & Porkâ is Cockney rhyming slang for Talk, and on more than one occasion Iâve been accused of rabbiting away excessivelyâmostly at parties, and generally by my wife.
But why a tin of soup? Well, I tend to believe that everyone is born perfect. Nobody is born with an inherent capacity to hate. It has to be taught. All of our experiencesâfamily, school, work, the books we read, the newspapers we peruse, the music we listen to, our friends, our social life, the opinions of those around us, religion, sports we play or watch, those we love and those who love us, those we desire and those who desire us, those we travel with, our hopes and dreams and ambitions and achievements, our triumphs and disastersâgo into a metaphorical cooking pot that we carry with us throughout our lives. All these âingredientsâ make up our Soup of Life.
Now, when making a soup, once youâve added an ingredient, itâs forever blended in and you canât take it out again. You add a sprinkling of finely chopped garnish; cumin or oregano, and you can never take that ingredient out again. Never, ever, ever. So say at the age of six you add black pepper or rosemary or hatred or love or comedy, from then onwards itâll always be part and parcel of your âsoup.â And as you add more ingredients the ârecipeâ of your life evolves, and before you know it you canât taste the coriander or the love any more, but itâs still there at a deep subliminal level. Remember that. Some people may not add hatred until theyâre in their twenties, and most of us never add it at all.
This forthright narrative chronicles the authorâs 1996 experiences as he adjusts to a massively transformed world. Emerging from 3 years in Saudi Arabia, and the 2 years prior cocooned in academia, he lands in Abu Dhabi to be hit with the triple-whammy of the NWO (1991), the WTO (1995), and the spigot of âIndia Inc.â opened wide.
Considered too old (at 40) by his feminized native land, and too white-skinned by the Zio-Globalists, he must now face hostile (multicultural) politics and the economic subterfuge orbiting a liberal American empire dedicated to outsourcing and open borders.
Follow this Engineerâs eclectic adventures from the U.A.E., Malaysia, and England [Book-1] then on to India [Book-2] as he somehow negotiates a series of traps, obstacles, and near calamities while occasionally pausing to seduce a few of the worldâs most exotic women.
This true, instructional, and entertaining testimony delivers a slew of lessons about how the 1990s cemented the fiscal and âchronically unemployedâ quagmire plaguing the Western World since Y2K. Mesmerized by the âClinton White Houseâ, most people refused to listen back then. Twenty or more years on, could this book open your eyes now?

If youâre a history or philosophy buff, this book should be as irresistible as a kebab to a pisshead. So whatâs it all about then? History, thatâs what.
âErrgghhh boring boring bollocks boring, I had enough of that crap when I was at school. History just went on and on and on and on and on âŠ.. and on and on. Nothing different ever happened.â
Well, thatâs where youâre wrong, because Iâm going to bring it alive. Not all history books, or even books about teaching history, have to be tedious. Iâve looked under every rock, in every nook and cranny. Iâve searched all over the place and dug up some really interesting little titbits. Stuff not a lot of people know. So stay with me on this one.
Iâve chosen to look at past events from the birth of the planet to the birth of Christ. Thatâs enough for one book, isnât it? Well, not really, because Iâve gone off track a little bit from time to time, but I do tend to do that, so donât worry about it.
If youâve got a teenager whoâs studying the history of this period, download a copy for them now because itâs all laid out nice and clear. But let me warn you, I have in the past been accused of having an inappropriate sense of humour, so if you want a little bit of a chuckle watching me make fun out of everyone I meet down the years, then this is the book for you - and if your offspring is in their early teens, then it probably isnât the book for them.
As I say, I do tend to stray into the modern day from time to time to bring things into focus, but I promise you this book will surprise you, inform you, keep you interested and put a smile on your face from time to time. I discuss philosophers and philosophy a lot, including ancient Greek philosophers, Chinese beliefs, and philosophy from around the world, but if you think itâs all Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, thereâs a lot more here to be discovered.
Youâll be surprised, for instance, at the similarities between the Celts and the Native Americans. The Rosicrucians will fascinate you, as will some of the secrets held by Alexander the Great! Itâs high time we had some history books for adults!
