Mary Baker Eddy was an American religious leader and author, best known for founding The Church of Christ, Scientist in 1879, which became the Mother Church of the Christian Science movement. In 1908, she established The Christian Science Monitor, along with three religious magazines: the Christian Science Sentinel, The Christian Science Journal, and The Herald of Christian Science.
Eddy authored numerous books and articles, with her most famous work being Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (1875), recognized as one of the "75 Books by Women Whose Words Have Changed the World" by the Women's National Book Association. In 1995, she was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame. Her other significant works include the Manual of The Mother Church and a collection of writings compiled posthumously into a book entitled Prose Works.
