Jeff Sutherland is widely recognized as one of the co-creators of Scrum, an influential framework for agile product development. In collaboration with Ken Schwaber, he introduced Scrum at the OOPSLA conference in 1995. His substantial contributions to the field of software development include his role in the formulation of the Agile Manifesto in 2001.
Prior to his pioneering work in software development, Sutherland served with distinction as a military officer. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and became a Top Gun in his USAF RF-4C Aircraft Commander class. His military service included flying over one hundred missions during the Vietnam War. After leaving the military, he pursued a career in medicine, earning a degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. It was there that he began to engage with data collection and information technology systems development.
Sutherland continues to contribute to the ongoing evolution of Scrum through his work on The Scrum Guide, and maintains an active role in the agile and software development communities.
