Camil Petrescu was a Romanian playwright, novelist, philosopher, and poet. He is recognized for marking the end of the traditional novel era and laying the foundations of the modern novel era in Romania. Petrescu was an influential member of the literary group Sburătorul and served as a mentor to writer Anișoara Odeanu.
