V.E. Schwab, born Victoria Elizabeth Schwab on July 7, 1987, is a renowned American author. She gained fame with her 2013 novel Vicious, the Shades of Magic series, and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which was nominated for the 2020 Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel.

Publishing children's and young adult fiction under the name Victoria Schwab, she is also the creator of the supernatural teen drama series First Kill, based on her short story in the 2020 anthology Vampires Never Get Old: Tales With Fresh Bite. Her work spans over 25 books, including the acclaimed Shades universe, the Villains series, and the City of Ghosts series.

Victoria was born in California, raised in Tennessee, and currently splits her time between Denver, Colorado, and Edinburgh, Scotland. She has an undergraduate degree in book design from Washington University in St. Louis, and a master's degree in depictions of monstrosity in medieval art from the University of Edinburgh.

When not writing, she hosts a podcast called No Write Way and enjoys running, cycling, and swimming. Her storytelling goal is to make readers doubt their reality, not by convincing them that magic is real, but by planting a seed of doubt that it isn't.

With a writing routine of at least two hours each morning, V.E. Schwab continues to create compelling narratives that resonate with readers of all ages. She believes in the power of stories to find readers when they need them most.
