Sheryl Sandberg

Sheryl Kara Sandberg is an American technology executive, philanthropist, and writer, born on August 28, 1969. She is most renowned for her role as the chief operating officer (COO) of Meta Platforms, a position she held until August 2022. Sandberg is also the founder of LeanIn.Org.

In 2008, Sandberg became the COO at Facebook, making significant strides in the company's operations and becoming its second-highest-ranking official. By June 2012, she had been elected to Facebook's board of directors, marking her as the first woman to serve on its board. Sandberg is credited with making Facebook profitable due to her leadership of the company's advertising business.

Before her time at Facebook, Sandberg was the vice president of global online sales and operations at Google and was actively involved in Google.org, its philanthropic initiative. Her earlier career included roles as a research assistant and later chief of staff to Lawrence Summers at the World Bank and the United States Treasury Department under President Bill Clinton.

Throughout her career, Sandberg has received numerous accolades, including being named in the Time 100, an annual list of the most influential people in the world, in 2012. According to Forbes Magazine's 2021 billionaires list, she had a net worth of $1.7 billion, largely due to her stock holdings in Facebook and other companies.
