As a therapist, trauma specialist, and the founder of Justice Leadership Solutions, a leadership consulting firm, Resmaa dedicates his expertise to coaching leaders through civil unrest, organizational change, and community building.
He is the author of the national bestseller My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies, published in September 2017, which appeared on the New York Times bestseller list in May 2021, and The Quaking of America: An Embodied Guide to Navigating Our Nation's Upheaval and Racial Reckoning, published in 2022.
Resmaa Menakem received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in Social Justice, Somatic Education and Advocacy and delivered the commencement address at CIIS’ 56th Commencement Ceremony at the Sydney Goldstein Theater in San Francisco.
