Robert Anthony Salvatore is an American author best known for The Legend of Drizzt, a series of fantasy novels set in the Forgotten Realms and starring the character Drizzt Do'Urden. He has also written The DemonWars Saga, a series of high fantasy novels; several other Forgotten Realms novels; and Vector Prime, the first novel in the Star Wars: The New Jedi Order series.
Salvatore has sold more than 15 million copies of his books in the United States alone, and 22 of his titles have been New York Times best-sellers. As one of the fantasy genre’s most successful authors, he enjoys an ever-expanding and tremendously loyal following. His books regularly appear on The New York Times best-seller lists and have sold more than 10 million copies. His original hardcover, The Two Swords, Book III of The Hunter’s Blade Trilogy (October 2004), debuted at #1 on The Wall Street Journal best-seller list and at #4 on The New York Times best-seller list.
Salvatore’s books have been translated into numerous foreign languages including German, Italian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Turkish, Croatian, Bulgarian, Yiddish, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Portuguese, Czech, and French. His first published novel, The Crystal Shard, from TSR in 1988, became the first in a long line of successful works.
