Pat Barker is an English writer and novelist. Born as Patricia Mary W. Drake on 8 May 1943, she is renowned for her works that focus on themes of memory, trauma, survival, and recovery. She gained fame with her Regeneration Trilogy, released in the 1990s, and more recently with a series of books set during the Trojan War, beginning with The Silence of the Girls in 2018.
Pat Barker was born in Thornaby-on-Tees, and received her education from the London School of Economics. Aside from her writing career, she has also worked as a history and politics teacher. She is married and resides in Durham, England.
