Marisa Silver is an American author, screenwriter, and film director.
She is best known as the author of the New York Times bestselling novel, Mary Coin, published by Blue Rider Press on March 7th, 2013.
Silver directed her first film, Old Enough, while studying at Harvard University. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1984 when she was just 23 years old.
Following this, she directed three more feature films: Permanent Record (1988) with Keanu Reeves, Vital Signs (1990), and He Said, She Said (1991) with Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth Perkins. The latter was co-directed with her future husband, Ken Kwapis.
After a successful career in Hollywood, Silver transitioned to writing, entering graduate school to become a short story writer. Her first short story was published by The New Yorker magazine in 2000.
