Marguerite Henry

Marguerite Henry, born Marguerite Breithaupt, was an American writer renowned for her children's books. Born on April 13, 1902, and passing away on November 26, 1997, she captivated generations with her storytelling.

Marguerite wrote fifty-nine books, primarily based on true stories of horses and other animals. Her work earned critical acclaim, including the prestigious Newbery Medal for her 1948 book King of the Wind, which is about horses. She was also a runner-up for two other Newbery awards.

One of her most famous works, Misty of Chincoteague, published in 1947, inspired several sequels and was adapted into the 1961 movie Misty.
