Kristen Britain is an American author renowned for her captivating fantasy series, Green Rider. Born on October 18, 1965, she has become a celebrated name in the fantasy genre. Her works include the acclaimed Green Rider series, which features the titles Green Rider (nominated for the Crawford Award), First Rider's Call, The High King's Tomb, Blackveil (nominated for the David Gemmell Legend Award), and Mirror Sight.
Kristen grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Her love for storytelling began at a young age; she penned her first novel, an undersea fantasy featuring herself and her friends, at just nine years old. At thirteen, she published Horses and Horsepeople, a cartoon collection.
After earning a degree in film production from Ithaca College in 1987, Kristen transitioned to the National Park Service, where she worked for many years as a park ranger across various natural and historical sites. This unique experience greatly influenced her writing, infusing her stories with rich settings and vibrant details.
