Kristen Britain is an American author known for her popular fantasy series, Green Rider. Born on October 18, 1965, she has made a significant mark in the fantasy literary world. The series began with the eponymous first volume Green Rider, which was nominated for the Crawford Award. Other books in the series include First Rider's Call, The High King's Tomb, Blackveil (nominated for the David Gemmell Legend Award), and Mirror Sight.
Kristen grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, where her passion for writing manifested at an early age. She started her first novel, an undersea fantasy featuring herself and her friends, at the age of nine. She published her first book, a cartoon collection titled Horses and Horsepeople, at the age of thirteen.
After completing her degree in film production at Ithaca College in 1987, Kristen embarked on a career with the National Park Service. Her tenure as a park ranger allowed her to work in various natural and historical settings, from deep below the Earth’s surface to the high altitudes of the Continental Divide. This unique background has influenced her storytelling, adding depth and authenticity to her fantasy worlds.
