Kristen Britain is an American author renowned for her fantasy series Green Rider. The series includes notable works such as Green Rider (nominated for the Crawford Award), First Rider's Call, The High King's Tomb, Blackveil (nominated for the David Gemmell Legend Award), and Mirror Sight.
Britain grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. She began her writing career at an early age, starting her first novel, an undersea fantasy featuring herself and her friends, at the age of nine. At thirteen, she published her first book, a cartoon collection titled Horses and Horsepeople.
She graduated from Ithaca College in 1987 with a degree in film production. Following her education, she ventured into a career with the National Park Service. Her tenure as a park ranger allowed her to explore and work in diverse natural and historical environments, ranging from deep beneath the Earth's surface to high altitudes on the Continental Divide, and from the textile mills of the American Industrial Revolution to the homes of influential Americans.
