Kemi Ashing-Giwa

Kemi Ashing-Giwa was born and raised in sunny Southern California. She grew up immersed in the realms of sci-fi and fantasy, which fueled her passion for storytelling. Her educational background is marked by her studies in integrative biology and astrophysics at Harvard University. Currently, she is expanding her knowledge and contributing to the field as she pursues a PhD in Earth & Planetary Sciences at Stanford University.

Her literary debut, The Splinter in the Sky, was published by Saga Press/Simon & Schuster and became an instant USA Today bestseller in summer 2023. Following this success, Ashing-Giwa is set to publish her debut novella, This World Is Not Yours, with Tor Nightfire/Macmillan Publishers in 2024. Additionally, she is the author of the anticipated novel The King Must Die.

Ashing-Giwa's short fiction portfolio includes works featured in Tor.com, Anathema: Spec from the Margins, The Sunday Morning Transport, Clarkesworld Magazine, Kaleidotrope, and Luna Station Quarterly. She is represented by Tricia Skinner of Fuse Literary.
