Karen White is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling American author of over 36 novels, including the popular Charleston-set Tradd Street mystery series. Raised among brothers, her love for books and strong female characters began in the third grade when the local librarian introduced her to 'The Secret of the Old Clock', a Nancy Drew Mystery.
Although she spent most of her upbringing in London, England, Karen has deep roots in the South, where many of her novels are set. Her works are characterized by intricate plot lines and compelling characters, offering a perfect blend of family drama, mystery, intrigue, and romance.
Initially pursuing a career in business, Karen graduated cum laude with a BS in Management from Tulane University. Ten years later, she wrote her first book, 'In the Shadow of the Moon', published in August 2000. Her books—referred to as "grit lit" (Southern Women’s Fiction)—have been nominated for numerous national contests, including the SIBA (Southeastern Booksellers Alliance) Fiction Book of the Year.
Her latest releases include 'The Author’s Guide to Murder' (November 2024), a collaboration with authors Beatriz Williams and Lauren Willig, and 'The House on Prytania' (May 2023), the second book in her New Orleans-set mystery series.
When not writing, Karen enjoys reading, bird watching, and avoiding cooking. She lives with her husband near Atlanta, Georgia, spending time between there and the northwest Florida coast. They have two grown children and a spoiled Havanese dog named Sophie.
