Julia Serano

Julia Michelle Serano is an American writer, musician, spoken-word performer, transgender and bisexual activist, and biologist. Born on September 23, 1967, she is renowned for her transfeminist books, such as Whipping Girl (2007), Excluded (2013), and Outspoken (2016). In addition to her writing, Julia is a public speaker who has delivered numerous talks at universities and conferences.

Her works are regularly featured in queer, feminist, and popular culture magazines. Some of her writings have appeared in over twenty anthologies and various news and media outlets, including The New York Times, TIME, The Guardian, Salon, The Daily Beast, and Ms.. Her writings are also employed as teaching materials in college courses across North America.
