Joshua Foer is a freelance journalist and author, best known for his work focusing on science. He gained widespread recognition as the 2006 USA Memory Champion, an achievement he describes in his 2011 book, Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything.
Foer was born on September 23, 1982, in Washington, D.C. He is the younger brother of Franklin Foer, the editor of New Republic, and Jonathan Safran Foer, a novelist. His parents are Esther Foer, president of a public relations firm, and Albert Foer, a think-tank president. Joshua attended Georgetown Day School and graduated from Yale University in 2004.
In addition to his literary achievements, Joshua Foer spoke at the TED conference in February 2012. He lives in Brookline, Massachusetts with his wife, Dinah Herlands, whom he met while they were both undergraduates at Yale.
