Jonathan McDonald Van Ness, born March 28, 1987, is an American hairstylist, podcast host, and television personality. Commonly referred to by the initials J.V.N, Van Ness is best known as the grooming expert on the Netflix series Queer Eye, for work on the web series parody Gay of Thrones, and for hosting the Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness podcast. He is renowned for his vibrant and dynamic personality, which has gained him a significant following.
Van Ness first gained attention with the Emmy-nominated series Gay of Thrones, a witty social commentary recapping HBO's Game of Thrones. Launched in 2013, the series received Emmy nominations in 2016 and 2018. In 2015, Van Ness began his podcast, Getting Curious, which has amassed over 300 episodes covering diverse topics.
In 2018, he became a member of the new Fab Five in Netflix's reboot of Queer Eye as the show's beauty and self-care expert, contributing to its six-year streak of winning Outstanding Structured Reality Program at the Emmy Awards.
