Jennette Michelle Faye McCurdy is a multi-talented American writer, filmmaker, former actress, and singer. She achieved notable fame through her breakthrough role as Sam Puckett in the Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly (2007–2012), which earned her four Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. McCurdy reprised the character in the iCarly spin-off series Sam & Cat (2013–2014) before departing from Nickelodeon.
Her early television roles include appearances in series such as Malcolm in the Middle (2003–2005), Zoey 101 (2005), Lincoln Heights (2007), True Jackson, VP (2009–2010), and Victorious (2012). McCurdy also took creative control by producing, writing, and starring in her own web series, What's Next for Sarah? (2014), and leading the science-fiction series Between (2015–2016).
In the music industry, McCurdy independently released her debut single, "So Close", in 2009. Her debut EP, Not That Far Away, came out in 2010, followed by the Jennette McCurdy EP and the Jennette McCurdy studio album in 2012. Her lead single, "Generation Love", reached number 44 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
In 2018, McCurdy shifted her focus to writing and directing, abandoning her acting career. She launched an interview podcast, Empty Inside, in 2020. Her memoir, I'm Glad My Mom Died, released in 2022, topped bestseller lists and received critical acclaim for its candid depiction of her life as a child star and her experiences with her since-deceased mother's abusive behavior.
In September 2023, she began hosting another podcast titled Hard Feelings.
