Ina Rilke is a Mozambique-born translator who specializes in translating Dutch literature and French literature into English. She was born in Mozambique and went to school in Porto, Portugal, attending the Oporto British School. Rilke pursued her studies in translation at the University of Amsterdam, where she later taught.
Throughout her career, she has translated works by notable writers such as Hafid Bouazza, Louis Couperus, Hella Haasse, W. F. Hermans, Arthur Japin, Erwin Mortier, Multatuli, Cees Nooteboom, Connie Palmen, Pierre Péju, and Dai Sijie.
Ina Rilke has been recognized for her exceptional translation skills with awards like the Vondel Prize, the Scott Moncrieff Prize, and the Flemish Culture Prize. Additionally, she has received nominations for prestigious awards such as the Best Translated Book Award, the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize, the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, and the IMPAC Book Award.
