Emily M. Danforth is an acclaimed American writer, best known for her debut novel, The Miseducation of Cameron Post. This novel is a poignant coming-of-age story set in Miles City, Montana, where Danforth was born and raised. The book was later adapted into a feature film in 2018, further cementing Danforth's status as a significant voice in LGBTQ+ literature.
Following her successful debut, Danforth published Plain Bad Heroines, a sapphic-gothic-comedy set largely in Rhode Island. This novel explores themes of love, horror, and comedy, all interwoven into a narrative that spans different timelines. Danforth has resided in Rhode Island for nearly a decade, living with her wife, Erica, and their two dogs, Kevin and Sally O'Malley.
Emily M. Danforth holds an MFA in Fiction from the University of Montana and a Ph.D in English-Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before embarking on a full-time writing career, she served as an Assistant Professor of English at Rhode Island College. Danforth's diverse career also includes stints as a lifeguard and a swim instructor, showcasing her varied interests and talents.
