Alwyn Hamilton is a Canadian author renowned for her bestselling young adult book series, the Rebel of the Sands trilogy. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she spent her childhood moving between Europe and Canada before her family settled in France. Growing up in a small French town, she developed a love for reading and writing, particularly fantasy and stories featuring cross-dressing heroines.

Alwyn pursued her education at King's College, University of Cambridge, where she studied History of Art. Following her studies, she moved to London and worked at an auction house. Known for her penchant for collecting hardcover books, Alwyn's writing career took off with her debut novel, Rebel of the Sands, which became a New York Times bestseller. The trilogy was published by Viking Children’s Books in the U.S. and Faber Children’s Books in the U.K., as well as in 14 other territories worldwide.
