Marcus, known as “w1n5t0n,” is only seventeen years old, but he believes he already understands how the system works–and how to manipulate it. Smart, quick, and adept in the digital world, he effortlessly bypasses his high school’s surveillance systems.

However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he and his friends are caught in the aftermath of a major terrorist attack on San Francisco. Wrongly placed at the wrong time, Marcus and his group are detained by the Department of Homeland Security and taken to a secret prison for a relentless interrogation.

Upon release, Marcus discovers that his friend Darryl is still missing and the city has transformed into a police state, treating every citizen as a potential terrorist. Feeling isolated with his story, Marcus decides there is only one course of action left: to take down the Department of Homeland Security as "M1k3y."
