Wen Spencer

Wen Spencer is an American science fiction and fantasy writer renowned for her captivating novels that often center on characters with exceptional abilities. In 2003, she earned the prestigious John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Raised on a family farm in Evans City, Pennsylvania, Spencer pursued her education at the University of Pittsburgh, acquiring a degree in information science. She has been actively involved in science fiction fandom.

Her notable works include the Ukiah Oregon series, featuring a character who is partially alien with a gentle disposition, formidable abilities, and dangerous werewolf-like relatives. Another acclaimed series is the Tinker universe, where a young woman of extraordinary genius transforms into an elf. In A Brother's Price, Spencer explores a world with a skewed gender birth ratio favoring females.

Currently residing in the idyllic paradise of Hilo, Hawaii, Spencer enjoys the scenic views of two volcanoes from her home.
