Trina Robbins

Trina Robbins, born as Trina Perlson on August 17, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, is a pioneering American cartoonist. She played an integral role in the underground comix movement and stands out as one of the movement's first female artists.

Robbins' career in comics began with her work being published in the East Village Other. She became part of the staff for the feminist underground newspaper It Ain't Me, Babe, where she contributed to the creation of the first all-woman comic book of the same name. Her advocacy for female comics artists continued through initiatives like the comics anthology Wimmen's Comix.

In the 1980s, Robbins broke new ground by becoming the first woman to draw the iconic Wonder Woman comics. In addition to her work on Wonder Woman, she penned the adaptation of Sax Rohmer's Dope for Eclipse Comics and collaborated on GoGirl with artist Anne Timmons. Robbins' contributions to comics have been recognized by her induction into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame.
