Timber Hawkeye

Timber Hawkeye, born Tomer Gal, on July 19, 1977, is an Israeli-born American author, best known for writing Buddhist Boot Camp and his self-published memoir, Faithfully Religionless.

In a personal anecdote, Timber shares his journey in Buddhism. He once mentioned sitting in front of a Tibetan Lama, wearing maroon robes after years of studying Buddhism. He expressed to his teacher, "With all due respect, I don't believe the Buddha ever intended for his teachings to get THIS complicated!" His teacher humorously pointed out the cultural influences on Buddhism and suggested that he try Zen, leading Timber to move into a Zen monastery, seeking a simpler depiction of the Buddha's teachings.
