Teresa Calderón is a distinguished Chilean poet and narrator. She was born on March 30, 1955, in La Serena, Chile. Calderón pursued her education in Pedagogy in Spanish at the Catholic University and later completed a degree in Aesthetics at the same institution.
With well-defined literary preferences, Calderón has expressed her admiration for Greek poets such as Konstantin Kavafis and Giorgos Seferis, writers from the Spanish Golden Age like Quevedo, Garcilaso, and Góngora, and Latin American poets including César Vallejo and Enrique Lihn. She also holds in high regard works by Chilean authors, such as Tercera residencia by Pablo Neruda, Antipoemas by Nicanor Parra, Tala and Los sonetos de la muerte by Gabriela Mistral.
Even before she learned to read, the world of literature was familiar to Teresa Calderón, thanks to her father, Alfonso Calderón, who instilled in her a passion for the written word.
