Tahereh Mafi is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, best known for her Shatter Me series. Born on November 9, 1988, in a small city in Connecticut, she currently resides in Santa Monica, California, with her husband, fellow author Ransom Riggs, and their daughter. Her books have sold millions of copies worldwide and have been translated into over thirty languages.

Her first contemporary novel, A Very Large Expanse of Sea, was named by Time magazine as one of "the best YA books of all time" and is in development for film with Levantine Films. Her most recent work includes the second book in a new fantasy series, These Infinite Threads.
