Swami Satchidananda (born C. K. Ramaswamy Gounder on December 22, 1914 – August 19, 2002) was an Indian yoga guru and religious teacher, who gained a significant following in the West. He is renowned for founding his own brand of Integral Yoga, along with the headquarters known as Yogaville in Virginia. Swami Satchidananda was a prolific author of philosophical and spiritual books, with a dedicated group of disciples who compiled his translations and updated commentaries on traditional yoga handbooks such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita for modern readers.
