Steve Silberman

Stephen Louis Silberman (December 23, 1957 – August 29, 2024) was an American writer known for his work at Wired magazine, where he served as both an editor and contributor for over two decades.

In 2010, Silberman was honored with the AAAS "Kavli Science Journalism Award for Magazine Writing." His acclaimed article, "The Placebo Problem," explored the significant impact of placebos on the pharmaceutical industry.

Silberman's book, Neurotribes, published in 2015, delves into the autism rights and neurodiversity movements and earned the prestigious Samuel Johnson Prize.

His influential article from Wired, titled "The Geek Syndrome," addressed autism in Silicon Valley and has been widely referenced as a culturally significant piece for the autism community.

In 2011, Silberman's Twitter account was recognized by Time magazine as one of the best Twitter feeds of the year.

In 2016, he delivered the keynote address at the United Nations on World Autism Awareness Day.
