Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Silvia Moreno-Garcia is a Mexican and Canadian novelist, short story writer, editor, and publisher. She is known for critically acclaimed novels such as Mexican Gothic (winner of the Locus, British Fantasy, Pacific Northwest Book, Aurora Awards, and Goodreads Award), Gods of Jade and Shadow (winner of the Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic and the Ignyte Award), and Velvet Was the Night (finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the Macavity Award).

Born in Mexico and currently residing in Vancouver, Silvia has a varied career that spans several genres including fantasy, horror, noir, and historical fiction. Her editorial work includes the World Fantasy Award-winning anthology She Walks in Shadows (published in the USA as Cthulhu's Daughters).

Silvia holds an MA in Science and Technology Studies from the University of British Columbia. She has written many books, including The Seventh Veil of Salome and The Daughter of Doctor Moreau, and her fiction has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies, including Best American Mystery and Suspense.
