Sheryl WuDunn is an American business executive, writer, lecturer, and Pulitzer Prize winner. Born on November 16, 1959, WuDunn has had an illustrious career in both journalism and finance. She is a senior banker focusing on growth companies in technology, new media, and emerging markets, and works with double bottom line firms, alternative energy issues, and women entrepreneurs.
WuDunn has also served as a private wealth adviser with Goldman Sachs and was a journalist and business executive for The New York Times. During her tenure at The Times, she was a foreign correspondent in the Beijing and Tokyo bureaus. WuDunn and her husband Nicholas Kristof's news coverage and editorial policies were noted for their impact, though not without criticism from some Japanese academics for being prone to exoticism and stereotypes.
Furthering her career in finance, she is now the senior managing director at Mid-Market Securities, a boutique investment banking firm in New York serving small and medium companies.
