Sherwood Smith

Sherwood Smith is an American fantasy and science fiction writer known for her works for both young adults and adults. Born on May 29, 1951, she has been a finalist for the prestigious Nebula Award and is an active writing group organizer and participant.

Smith's notable works include the young adult novel Crown Duel. She has also collaborated with Dave Trowbridge on the Exordium series and with Andre Norton on two books in the Solar Queen universe. In 2001, her short story "Mom and Dad at the Home Front" was a finalist for the Nebula Award for Best Short Story.

Her children's books have frequently appeared on library Best Books lists. Notably, Wren's War was honored as an Anne Spencer Lindbergh Honor Book, and it, along with The Spy Princess, were finalists for the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award. Smith formerly served as an officer of the Mythopoeic Society under her birth name, Christine Ione Smith, but prefers "Sherwood" both personally and professionally.
