Sally Vanessa Beauman (née Kinsey-Miles, also known as Vanessa James) was an esteemed English journalist and author, celebrated for her best-selling novels. Born on 25 July 1944, Beauman pursued her higher education at Girton College, Cambridge, where she earned a MA in English Literature.
She married Christopher Beauman, an economist, and moved to the USA, living in Washington DC, and later in New York. During her time in America, she embarked on her journalism career, joining the staff of the newly launched New York magazine and eventually becoming its associate editor. She continued contributing to the magazine even after returning to England.
Beauman was also known for her in-depth interviews, including one with Alan Howard for the Telegraph Magazine in 1970, noted for its extensive coverage.
Her literary works have been widely translated, making a significant impact in the world of literature.
