Rumaan Alam is an American writer born in 1977. He is the author of the novels Rich and Pretty, That Kind of Mother, Leave the World Behind, and Entitlement.

His short fiction has appeared in various publications including StoryQuarterly, Crazyhorse, and Meridian. In addition to his novels, he has written articles for prominent publications such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, and The New Republic.

Rumaan Alam studied writing at Oberlin College and currently resides in New York with his husband and two children.
