Patricia Briggs

Patricia Briggs is an American writer of fantasy, born on December 21, 1965. She is renowned for her work in the urban fantasy genre, particularly for the Mercy Thompson series, which has captivated readers since its inception in 1993.

Briggs was born in Butte, Montana, into a family with a profound love for reading, instilled by her mother, a children's librarian. Her upbringing was rich with fairy tales and stories about horses, which later evolved into a passion for folklore and history.

An alumna of Montana State University, Patricia graduated with degrees in history and German, and initially worked as a substitute teacher. Her writing career eventually took precedence, and she now writes full-time, much to the delight of her fans.

Patricia Briggs resides in Montana with her husband, children, and six horses, enjoying a life surrounded by the inspiration for many of her imaginative tales.
