Nâzım Hikmet Ran

Nâzım Hikmet, born Mehmed Nâzım, was a renowned Turkish poet, playwright, novelist, screenwriter, director, and memoirist, born on January 15, 1902, and passed away on June 3, 1963. He is highly praised for the "lyrical flow of his statements" and is often described as a "romantic communist" and a "romantic revolutionary". His political beliefs led to his repeated arrests, causing him to spend much of his adult life in prison or in exile. Despite these challenges, his profound poetry has transcended linguistic barriers, being translated into more than 50 languages.
