Michelle Michiko Sagara is a Canadian author of fantasy literature, active since the early 1990s. She has published under the names Michelle Sagara, Michelle West (using her husband's surname), and Michelle Sagara West. Sagara has received two nominations for the prestigious John W. Campbell Award.

She resides in Toronto and is employed part-time at Bakka-Phoenix, a local bookstore. Sagara is not only an author but also a bookseller and a lover of literature. Reading has been one of her life-long passions, and she is sometimes paid for her opinions about what she’s read by the venerable Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Despite the limitations of her bookshelf space, she continues to enjoy reading and writing and is happy to connect with her readers through various formats, including libraries, which she believes play an essential role in discovering new authors and books.
