Matthew Henry

Matthew Henry was a distinguished British Nonconformist and Presbyterian minister born on October 18, 1662, in Wales. A prolific author, he is renowned for his six-volume biblical commentary Exposition of the Old and New Testaments.

Henry's commentary, created between 1708 and 1710, is esteemed for its practical and devotional insights, spanning the entire Old Testament and the Gospels and Acts in the New Testament. His works have had a significant impact on biblical scholarship and continue to be a resource for theological study and personal devotion.

Throughout his life, Henry resided mainly in England, contributing extensively to religious thought and literature until his death on June 22, 1714.
