Margaret Edson is an American playwright, born on July 4, 1961 in Washington, DC. She is widely recognized for her play Wit, for which she received the prestigious 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play has been celebrated worldwide, receiving numerous productions in multiple languages. Additionally, the HBO adaptation of Wit won the Emmy Award for Best Film in 2001.
Besides her success in theatre, Margaret Edson has dedicated a significant part of her life to education. Since 1992, she has worked as a public school teacher, currently teaching sixth-grade social studies at Inman Middle School. She resides in Atlanta with her family.
