Maggie Stiefvater (born Heidi Hummel on November 18, 1981) is a renowned American writer of young adult fiction. She is best known for her fantasy series The Wolves of Mercy Falls and The Raven Cycle. She is a New York Times bestselling author with notable works including The Shiver Trilogy, The Raven Cycle, and The Scorpio Races. Apart from writing, Maggie is an artist and a passionate driver of mechanical vehicles.

Maggie plays several musical instruments, most famously the bagpipes, and creates art using various media, predominantly colored pencils. She currently resides in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with her husband, their two children, several dogs, a bunch of fainting goats, and a pair of growly tuner cars.
