Luis Carlos Montalván

Luis Carlos Montalván was an award-winning New York Times bestselling author, speaker, and advocate. He was a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving multiple tours abroad. During his distinguished military career, he was decorated with numerous awards, including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Combat Action Badge.

In 2007, Captain Montalván honorably departed the military and pursued higher education, completing a Master of Science from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in 2010.

He is well-known for his inspirational memoir, which won the 2012 USA Best Book Award in the Autobiography/Memoir category.

His beloved service dog, Tuesday, was a significant part of his life and was the recipient of the American Kennel Club (AKC) Humane Fund Award for Canine Excellence (ACE) - Service Dog.
