Lilian Elphick Latorre is a Chilean writer born in Santiago de Chile on December 1, 1959. She holds a degree in Literature from the University of Chile and has completed a master's degree in Latin American and Chilean Literature at the same institution. In 1990, she was a finalist in the Juan Rulfo Short Story Contest held in Paris, France, with her work "La Gran Ola".
In September 2002, she participated in the congress titled "Being a woman, being Latin American, being a writer" held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Between 2003 and 2004, she served as the president of the Letras de Chile Corporation. She has also been awarded the Literary Creation Scholarship by the National Council for Books and Reading for her publications "El otro afuera" and "Ojo Travieso". In 2010, she received the National Council of Culture and the Arts Award for Best Literary Works by National Authors in the edited works category, short story genre, for her work "Bellas de sangre contraria". Elphick is an editor of the magazine "Brevilla", dedicated to microfiction, along with Sergio Astorga (Mexico/Portugal) and Patricia Nasello (Argentina).
