Leonard Norman Wein was an American comic book writer and editor, renowned for his significant contributions to the comic book industry. He was born on June 12, 1948, in New York City, and passed away on September 10, 2017.
Len Wein is best known for co-creating DC Comics' Swamp Thing and Marvel Comics' Wolverine, and for his instrumental role in revitalizing the Marvel superhero team, the X-Men. His work with the X-Men included the co-creation of iconic characters such as Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus.
In addition to his creation of memorable characters, Wein served as the editor for writer Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons on the influential DC miniseries Watchmen. His contributions to the comic book world earned him a place in the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2008.
