Kentaro Miura

Kentaro Miura (Japanese: 三浦 建太郎, Hepburn: Miura Kentarō, July 11, 1966 – May 6, 2021) was a renowned Japanese manga artist. He gained worldwide fame for his dark fantasy series Berserk, which began serialization in 1989 and continued until his untimely death. By 2023, Berserk had over 60 million copies in circulation, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.

In 2002, Miura received the Award for Excellence at the sixth Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. Miura's journey into the world of manga began at the tender age of 10 when he created his first manga, "Miuranger," which spanned 40 volumes and was published for his classmates in a school publication. His passion for manga continued throughout his education, and by 1982, Miura's drawing techniques had improved significantly, leading to his first dōjinshi being published with the help of friends.
