Kelly Link

Kelly Link is an American editor and author of short stories renowned for her unique blend of genres, which include science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, and realism. Her work is often characterized as slipstream or magic realism. Link's contributions to the literary world have been widely recognized with prestigious awards such as a Hugo award, three Nebula awards, and a World Fantasy Award. In 2018, she was honored with the MacArthur "Genius" Grant for her exceptional creativity.

Link pursued her education at Columbia University in New York and earned an MFA from UNC Greensboro. Alongside her husband, Gavin Grant, she runs the publishing house Small Beer Press. The couple also co-edits anthologies previously managed by Terri Windling, specializing in fantasy and horror genres. A respected educator, Link has taught at Lenoir-Rhyne University and conducted writing workshops at various institutions, including Clarion workshops and Smith College. She has been part of the Summer Writing Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

As an author, Link has penned collections such as Stranger Things Happen, Magic for Beginners, Pretty Monsters, Get in Trouble, and White Cat, Black Dog. Her stories have graced the pages of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, The Best American Short Stories, and Prize Stories: The O. Henry Awards. Link is also a recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. She co-founded Small Beer Press and co-edits the zine Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet. Additionally, she owns Book Moon, an independent bookstore in Easthampton, MA.

Born in Miami, Florida, Kelly Link now resides in Northampton, Massachusetts, with her family, dog, and chickens.
