Julie Bertagna

Julie Bertagna is a Scottish author known for her real-life and science fiction novels targeted towards children and young adults. Born in 1962, Julie's literary works have been recognized with several nominations for prestigious literature awards, including the Carnegie Medal. Her novel Exodus was honored with the Lancashire County Library Children's Book of the Year Award. Additionally, her book Soundtrack, her second for young adults, received a Scottish Arts Council Award, marking it as the second highest award given to a Scottish children's writer.

Julie was born in Ayrshire and grew up near Glasgow, where she currently resides with her family. After earning a degree in English Language and Literature, she ventured into careers as an editor for a small magazine, a teacher, and a freelance journalist. Her novels are critically acclaimed and award-winning, capturing the hearts of both teenagers and younger readers. Julie frequently speaks at schools, libraries, and book festivals across the UK.
