Jorge Marcos Baradit Morales, known as Jorge Baradit, is a versatile Chilean writer, politician, and podcaster. Born on June 11, 1969, in Valparaíso, Chile, Baradit has become widely recognized for his engaging works in popular history, particularly through his bestselling trilogy Historia secreta de Chile.
Baradit's career is marked by a creative blend of various roles and interests. As a visual communicator and former punk rock band member, he has traversed the urban landscape with the same rebellious spirit that characterizes his literature. Baradit made a significant impact in the literary world with the publication of YGDRASIL in 2005, which garnered surprised acclaim from critics and readers alike. His novel TRINIDAD won the prestigious UPC prize from the University of Catalonia in 2006, which is considered the most important award for Spanish-language science fiction.
In 2007, Baradit published YGDRASIL in Spain, further establishing himself as one of the most relevant genre authors in the history of Chilean science fiction. The subsequent success of the UPC anthology led by TRINIDAD in 2008 further cemented his position.
Aside from his achievements in the literary field, Jorge Baradit has also ventured into politics. In 2021, he was elected as a constituent convention member representing district N° 10, where he contributed to the drafting of a new constitution for Chile.
