Jón Kalman Stefánsson is a renowned Icelandic author, born on December 17, 1963. He spent his childhood in Reykjavík and Keflavík. After completing school, he worked in various fields in Western Iceland, including as a fisherman. He studied literature at the University of Iceland from 1986 to 1991 but did not complete his degree.
During this time, Jón taught literature at various schools and contributed articles to the newspaper Morgunblaðið. From 1992 to 1995, he lived in Copenhagen before returning to Iceland to work at the Mosfellsbær Library until 2000. Since then, he has focused solely on writing novels and short stories.
