John Boyne

John Boyne is an Irish novelist born on April 30, 1971. He is renowned for authoring sixteen novels for adults, six novels for younger readers, two novellas, and one collection of short stories. His works are available in over 50 languages worldwide.

Among his most famous works is the 2006 novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, which was adapted into a 2008 film. This novel became a New York Times no.1 Bestseller, also adapted into a play, ballet, and opera, selling around 11 million copies worldwide.

Some of his other popular books include The Heart’s Invisible Furies, A Ladder to the Sky, and My Brother’s Name is Jessica. In addition to his writing, John Boyne is a regular book reviewer for The Irish Times.

In 2012, he received the Hennessy Literary ‘Hall of Fame’ Award for his body of work, and in 2015, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of East Anglia.
