Joe Dunthorne

Joe Dunthorne is a Welsh novelist, poet, and journalist. He was born in 1982 in Swansea, Wales and is a graduate of the University of East Anglia's Creative Writing MA, where he was awarded the Curtis Brown prize.

He gained recognition with his first novel, Submarine (2008), a story about a dysfunctional family in Swansea narrated by 15-year-old Oliver Tate. This novel was later adapted into a film in 2010.

His second novel, Wild Abandon (2011), won the RSL Encore Award. In the realm of poetry, his works have been featured in various magazines and anthologies, and have also appeared on Channel 4 and BBC Radio 3 and 4.

In 2010, a pamphlet collection titled Joe Dunthorne: Faber New Poets 5 was published. His first solo collection of poems, titled O Positive, was published in 2019.
